4th Grade ELA Small Group Curriculum: Quarter 2
Nine weeks of scripted word study, reading, grammar and writing lessons (Greek roots, nonfiction text structure, commas and figurative language), with every student page in three levels so one small group learns the same skill at the same time.
How it works
Every week has the same four lessons, so your group always knows what comes next and you never have to plan.
Teach once
Open the grown-up page. It tells you what to say, what to watch for, and gives answers for all three levels.
Pick a level
Circle gives more support, triangle is on level, star is a stretch. Same skill, same text, same day.
Four short lessons a week
Word Study, Read It, Fix It and Write It, about 25 to 30 minutes each.
What's inside
Using it
Go at your learner's pace, one step or one page at a time. Read the grown-up guide once and you're ready, no teaching background needed.
Run it as an intervention, a small group or independent practice. It prints clean on the school copier.
Questions
Is this a full curriculum or extra practice?
It is the core ELA lesson for a small group: word study, reading, grammar and writing, about 25 to 30 minutes a day, four days a week.
How do I choose a level?
Use the five-minute Quick Check at the front. After that, if a page is easy and correct for a week, move up a shape. If it brings tears, step down.
Do I need any other materials?
No. A pencil and crayons are all a child needs. Nothing to cut, laminate or buy.
Is there enough room to write?
Yes. Writing lines are tall handwriting guides, about three eighths to one half inch from the top line to the baseline. Organizers, plans and answers each get full-width lines, so Read It, Fix It and Write It run two or three pages per level.
How does it build fluency?
Every Read It text is read three times: listen, read together, read alone. An optional one-minute check and a My Reading Graph page let a child race only their own last score.
Can I print only one level?
Yes. Each lesson has one grown-up page, then the circle, triangle and star pages. Each week's Start Here page lists its exact pages.
Which weeks does this cover?
Weeks 10 to 18: Greek roots, nonfiction text structure, commas and figurative language. The whole 36-week year is mapped in the book.
How do I get my files?
Right after checkout you'll see download buttons, and we email you a link too. Everything is saved in My Library to re-download anytime.
Will it print in black and white?
Yes. Every page is designed to print clean in black and white on a home printer or a school copier.
Can I use it with a whole class?
Yes. One purchase covers one classroom or one family. Buying for several teachers or a whole school? See school licenses.
What if I have a problem or a question?
Because these are instant digital downloads, all sales are final. If something isn't working the way you hoped, or you have any question at all, email hello@wiggle-wise.com and we'll help.
