Does it work with our spelling list?
Yes. The mat is blank, so it works with any word from any list or program.
What is a heart word?
A word kids see so often they need to know it by heart. Most of each heart word still follows the normal sound rules, and usually only one part is tricky.
My learner can't write a whole sentence yet. Is that okay?
Yes. They can tell you the sentence while you write it, then trace your words. The grown-up guide explains how.
Is there a version for older kids?
Yes. The Break It Down! Spelling Word Mat is made for grades 2 to 4 and adds syllables and prefixes and suffixes.
How do I get my files?
Right after checkout you'll see download buttons, and we email you a link too. Everything is saved in My Library to re-download anytime.
Will it print in black and white?
Yes. Every page is designed to print clean in black and white on a home printer or a school copier.
